What are "Pre-Game Rituals"?

Is it crazy that people have special "game day socks" or "Special motions" they do before a game? Not at all. These are what I like to call "Pre-Game rituals." From personal experience these pre-game rituals obviously dont actually help, but it gets athletes into the right flow state of mind.

Fun fact, NBA legend Michael Jordan would famously wear his old college shorts under his Bulls uniform for luck. Another athlete is Serena Williams who ties her shoelaces in a specific way before each tournament. These habits give athletes a sense of control in a high-pressure environment that gets them ready for whats to come.

According to Sports Illustrated , nearly half of professional athletes admit to following a superstition before games. Whether it’s routine or ritual, it reminds us that confidence often starts in the mind, not just in training.
