"Sports players live the best life!" "They make so much money for just playing a game, their life is the best!"  Although its almost every sports enthusiast dream to be playing for their dream team, people often dont realize how bad players mental health can get. These athletes face pressure that most of us couldn't comprehend. Imagine a post with 20 thosand comments saying how the team should bench you? THAT WOULD SUCK! As a community we must remember that these athletes are human and not perfect super heros. Athletes like Simone Biles and Michael Phelps have openly discussed mental health. Their courage to speak out has encouraged leagues and fans to value mental wellness as much as physical performance.  According to  The Guardian , sports organizations worldwide are investing in mental health programs to support their athletes year-round.  Stadium Pulse. The roar of a crowds. It can shift the energy of an entire game. Whether it’s chanting in a packed soccer stadium or tailgating outside an NFL arena, fans bring sports to life.  It is called “home advantage” when athlete performance improves thanks to crowd support. Fans scream when their team is on defense trying to defend the opponset on a 3rd and 1 to create stress to the opposing players. According to  ESPN , teams win nearly 60% of their home games across major leagues. This energy isn’t just noise to create chaos, it’s motivation to fight hard. What are "Pre-Game Rituals"?

Image
Is it crazy that people have special "game day socks" or "Special motions" they do before a game? Not at all. These are what I like to call "Pre-Game rituals." From personal experience these pre-game rituals obviously dont actually help, but it gets athletes into the right flow state of mind. Fun fact, NBA legend Michael Jordan would famously wear his old college shorts under his Bulls uniform for luck. Another athlete is Serena Williams who ties her shoelaces in a specific way before each tournament. These habits give athletes a sense of control in a high-pressure environment that gets them ready for whats to come. According to  Sports Illustrated , nearly half of professional athletes admit to following a superstition before games. Whether it’s routine or ritual, it reminds us that confidence often starts in the mind, not just in training. Pierre Gasly points to God in front of his F1 car before every race.
